Our use of A.I
I’ve been reading lots in the media about AI recently, as I’m sure you have too. What has really struck me is the conversations over whether retailers should be allowed to use it for their product imagery.
It’s a tough one, as personally, it raises concerns over what I’m buying whether it’s for my shops or for home with the big question being ‘Is it actually going to look like the photo’. I feel the most sensible thing all users should do if it is being exposed to the public is let them know what it’s being used for.
So here it goes….. I do use AI (although definitely at a beginners level!!!) the main reason for using it is, quite frankly, my photography skills are terrible and as a small business I don’t want to hike up my retail prices from forking out for professional photography. So, when I’ve photographed something and the colour in the image isn’t looking anything like the actual product….i run it through the AI tool on Canva until it resembles what the product actually looks like!!
I’ve recently discovered being able to put the item on a model which is great (when it works!!) because it enables me to show you what it actually looks like on, which can often be tricky. The only thing that is completely artificially generated is the product background when I need my website homepage to look a bit more fancy!! It doesn’t change the actual product, but blimey it’s good and so much fun!!
You can probably tell from the amount of waffle (and more than likely some grammatical errors!! Apologies Mrs Daybell) in this email that I don’t use AI to write to you, I love being part of the communities my shops are in and having a personal interaction with you all, having a computer do that for me, just doesn’t sit quite right.
So, yes, I use AI so you can see what you’re actually getting.
Chat GTP?! I keep it for ‘Can I re-heat noodles in the air fryer’ and ‘ is this mole ok?’
Thanks for reading xx
p.s the mole was fine and noodles can be reheated in an air fryer, just add a tablespoon of water to them first!
